The game drops you on an island with almost nothing. The only goal: earn enough to get home. Your first hour is one loop — hook a creature, fight, sell, and spend the money on gear that makes the next island easier.
Cast to hook a creature → finish the fight with your current weapon → sell the catch → spend on upgrades. Quest NPCs give objectives that unlock the next island — usually "defeat the boss and return the trophy." The biggest rookie mistake is saving for an expensive gun instead of a cheap one: the Knife clears early crabs, and one upgraded weapon beats five level-1 weapons.
| Step | What to do |
|---|---|
| 1 | On the starting island, learn to cast (left click) and catch your first fish |
| 2 | Fight and sell your first catch |
| 3 | Buy the Knife to clear early crabs |
| 4 | Brass Knuckles ($58) + Beer ($12) money trick |
| 5 | 360° trick-shot every creature for double payout |
| 6 | Buy and upgrade the Shotgun before leaving |
Trick-shots double the sell price — spin in the air before the kill and each catch is worth noticeably more. Roulette and slot machines are high-risk gambling; the community treats them as entertainment, not income. Eat grilled fish to heal, don't waste money on consumables — the grill is free.
On island 2, hand 5 leeches to the farmer, beat the Spider Crab, return the trophy. The Weapon Tier List has the full order and how to fight each boss, all the way to the final whale.
