Fishipedia: 49 creatures and bait

There are 49 entries in the codex: 38 regular catches and 11 bosses / mini-bosses. Regulars are driven by the rod + lure combo, bosses by a specific location + a specific bait. The Angelfish spawn location is debated as of patch 1.0.9; details below.

Core rule: regular fish are not strictly tied to an island — they are tied to the lure pool. Bring the wrong bait to the right island and you will catch nothing useful.

Drip variants

Every regular fish has a small chance of being a Drip variant — visually loud (neon urchin, gold-chain fish, sunglasses fish).

  • Vendor price: 3–10x the normal variant.
  • Codex: collecting every Drip variant unlocks the "Fishipedia" achievement.
  • Bait: uses the same rod and lure as the normal variant. No dedicated bait.

The Steam achievement "Drip" specifically requires the Drippy Urchin — a neon-pink sea urchin variant.

How to find a missing codex entry

  1. Open the codex (default Tab). Find the empty slot.
  2. Match the empty slot to the table above — get the right rod and lure.
  3. Travel to the indicated island. Do not switch to a higher-tier lure just because you reached a new island; that breaks the pool.
  4. For Angelfish (and any other disputed spawn), keep the Standard Lure equipped even after reaching the Volcano.
Finishing the codex is faster than finishing the game. Once you have cleared Island 5, you can sail freely and farm the missing Drip variants without redoing boss fights. How to Fish Guide Hub
